TEMPEST to Join EU-INGENIOuS Cluster Webinar on Battery Pack Design Optimisation

Modelling & Simulation approaches for battery pack design optimisation

Next March 24 at 10.30AM (CET), TEMPEST will participate in the upcoming webinar ‘Modelling & Simulation approaches for battery pack design optimisation,’ organised by the BATSS project as part of the EU-INGENIOuS Cluster Initiative for Next Generation Battery Systems.

The EU-INGENIOuS cluster brings together EU-funded projects under the Horizon Europe call HORIZON-CL5-2022-D2-01-05, including BATSSEXTENDEDNEXTBATTEMPEST and VERSAPRINT.

Katerina Fragiadaki will represent TEMPEST in the online session, it will explore advanced modelling and simulation methodologies aimed at optimising battery pack design, with a focus on performance, safety, durability, and system integration. By sharing approaches and insights across projects, the webinar aims to highlight synergies and accelerate innovation in next-generation battery systems.

TEMPEST at RTR Conference 2026

12. Next generation battery systems for road transport and mobility applications

TEMPEST coordinator, Jeremy Warren, presented the project’s latest progress during the 2026 Results from Road Transport Research (RTR) Conference, in the session “Next generation battery systems for road transport and mobility applications.” It was moderated by Martha Gialampouki (CINEA) and Bozorg Khanbaei (BEPA) and brought together European initiatives working to improve performance, safety and scalability of future battery technologies.

The presentation positioned TEMPEST as a system-engineering project, not just a battery chemistry project. Its objective is to remove key barriers to large-scale electrification safety, manufacturability, recyclability and adaptability by redesigning how battery packs are structured and monitored across their lifecycle. The work contributes to safer, lighter and more sustainable energy storage for future road transport.

The session also featured related research projects, including VERSAPRINT and EXTENDED, part of EU-INGENIOuS Cluster.

Action plan for women in research, innovation and start-ups

The EU’s action plan for women in research, innovation and startups will address persistent gender gaps and promote diversity, equality and inclusiveness in the European Research Area (ERA). The plan aims to make the ERA the world’s most attractive place for women to work in research, innovation and startups by 2030.

The TEMPEST project is supporting the European discussion on women’s participation in research, innovation and entrepreneurship by contributing to the European Commission’s initiative on Women in Research, Innovation and Start-ups. As part of this process, women researchers and professionals from the TEMPEST consortium shared their perspectives and experiences, providing feedback on barriers, opportunities and concrete measures that could improve participation and career progression in battery research and related STEM fields.
